Northside Hospital Careers FAQs About External Applicants
I’ve submitted my application. What’s next?
Northside recruiters receive and review applications for each opportunity. This process typically takes 2-3 weeks. You can check the status of your application at any time, by logging into your profile.
Should I submit an application for each position I am interested in? Or can I just apply once?
Please submit an application for each position you are interested in. To make things easier, your profile is saved in the system and you can make changes at any time. Be sure to update your profile regularly, so Northside recruiters have the most up to date information as you are being considered for opportunities with them.
How long is my application in the system?
Your application will remain in the candidate database indefinitely. It is important that you apply for each position you are interested in, as jobs become available. Northside recruiters review applications and resumes associated with current open positions.
I have applied for multiple positions and have not heard back?
Northside do their best to respond to each individual applicant, but due to the high volume of interest they are not able to personally contact everyone. Candidates who appear to be a strong match for a position will be contacted by one of their recruiters via phone or e-mail.
Candidates who are not selected to advance in the interview process typically receive e-mail notification. You can check the status of your application by logging into your candidate profile.
Do job postings expire?
Yes, each position will be posted until the job has been filled, or until it has been open for 90 days. After 90 days, the position will be reposted.
I submitted an application to a position that is no longer posted, but my status shows “considering-pending department review.” Does this mean the position has been filled?
Occasionally, for positions that receive a high-volume of applications, the recruiter will remove the job posting to review each application received. This does not mean the position has been filled, and indicates that you are still in consideration for this opportunity.
As you move through the process of being considered for the position, your candidate profile will be updated. Please visit the candidate portal regularly for status updates.
What does “Resource” or “PRN” mean on a posting?
Northside use Resource and/or PRN to indicate a position that does not have guaranteed hours. This means there is no regular schedule and a Resource or PRN employee will work as needed.
Can I deliver my resume directly to a recruiter? Or speak to a recruiter about my application?
To provide you with the best possible experience, all applications and resumes must be submitted via jobs.northside.com. If you are a strong potential candidate, one of their recruiters will be in touch.
I missed a call from the general HR phone number and the caller didn’t leave a message?
Northside recruiters will make every effort possible to connect with a well-qualified candidate. This includes leaving voicemails with contact information, calling back and following up with an e-mail.
I am locked out of my candidate profile. What do I do?

What is a Nurse Extern – Student?
Nurse Extern – Student is a senior-year nursing student who is working through his/her last year of school. A Nurse Extern is scheduled on a PRN basis according to the needs of the individual department. Extern opportunities may be viewed within the “Job Search” tab.
What is an RN Resident? What are the details of the RN Residency program?
RN Resident is a graduate of an accredited nursing school who works full-time to receive advanced training in a specific clinical area. RN Residents will receive a few months of classroom and on the job training before being placed to work on their own.
When should I apply?
All interested applicants should apply at least 3-6 months before their anticipated graduation date.
I am an experienced RN. Would I be eligible for the RN Residency program?
Yes! The RN Residency program is for new grad RNs, as well as those who are experienced.

How do I apply for a transfer?
Visit https://mynorthsidehr.org/ and select the orange Transfer Request tile. Click on the View Northside Transfer Opportunities and complete the transfer request process.
How do I log in to view transfer opportunities?
To view transfer opportunities, you will want to use the account credentials you created when you first applied on MyNorthsideCareer. If you haven’t logged in to MyNorthsideCareer or have forgotten your password please reset your password.
